AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne. Dec. 24. The Melbourne Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Limited, of New Zealand, reports on the local grain market as follows : Wheat is in goad "demand, and 3s 4d.to 3s 7d per bushel is obtainable; malting barley is quoted at 4s to 4b 6d, but the market is very irregular for this description of grain, New Zealand oats—Feed varieties are in less demand, and prices are occasionally easier ; the ruling quotations being 2s 9d to 2s lOd per bushel for milling descriptions. There is steady bat not active demand at 2s lOd to 28 lid per bushel. New Zealand oats under bond are quoted at 2s to 2a 2d per bushel.
ENGLISH MARKETS. LohdoKj Dec. 23. Adelaide wheat, ex store, per 4961 b, 34s 6d, New Zealand wheat, ex store, per 4961 b, 32s to 32s 6d, according to grade, Adelaide flour, ex store, per 2801 b, 245. Australian beef tallow of fair average quality, 24s per cwt, ; mutton ditto, 24s 6d per cwt. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,480,000 quarters, and for the Continent 2,190,000 quarters, Dec. 24. The wheat market closed firm with only a limited business. English and foreign sorts are hardening, and an Australian January cargo has been sold at 345, and another prompt shipment fcr 3d more.
