MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Board was held in the Road Board Office, Peal Forest, on Friday last. Present—Messn C. Q. Tripp, R. Mackay, and R. Their. In the absence of the Chairman Mr Tripp was voted to tlisfchair. MINUTES. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE, The fallowing correspondence was read and considered : From the Colonial Secretary in reply to the Board’s letter in reference to the proposed separation of the Waimate County from the Hospital and Charitable Aid District of South Canterbury, and stating that the matter would receive the atten- : tion of the Government. From the Commissioner of Property fax, forwarding a statement of the altera* . tions required to be made in tha Valuation Roll as regards Crown Lands. From Mr J, R, Fussoll, making tn- ■> quiries as to the spread of Californian thistle in the district.
From Mr J. Mulvahill, requesting an extension of time to complete his contract on the Kakahu and Burke’s Paaa Road,—An extension of two weeks was granted.
From Mr J. Milos, offering a price per acre for the cocksfoot grass seed growing in the Board’s plantation reserves.— Resolved : “That tenders be called for tho grass seed ; tenders to be sent in to the Overseer within tan days, and that ha be enapoarered to accept tho most suitabl# tender. INSTRUCTIONS TO OVERSEER. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Clerk of the Temuka Road Board asking if there are any Californian thistles in his district, and, if so, where they could bo seen; to write to the Land Office, Timaru, asking who is the owner of R.S. 3j713; to write to the Geraldine Coymty Council stating that the residents of the district would prefer having a concrete culvert placed in the water-race at Tripp's cutting ; to write to the Chief Surveyor, asking if any report had yet been made on the proposed alteration of road in tha Timaru Borough Council reserve by tho District Surveyor. CLAYTON BRIDGE. Resolved—“ That the Overseer inspect the Clayton bridge, with the view of protecting the north end.” ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £14710s 9tJ were passed for payment, and the Board then adjourned.
