THE GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.
TO TH* IEITOB. Sib,— Will you allow me apace in your paper to draw attention to the way that the Geraldine Town Board are allowing atock to wander at large ? When that body came into existence they spent a lot, of money asphalting the footpaths, improving the streets, etc., and to protect the work that was done they paid a ranger to impound all stock found at large, and if by accident your horae or cow got out of your paddock you were summoned before the Magistrate and fined from 16s to 40s and costa, according to the temper that gentleman was in. Now all is changed. The ranger is discharged, the Magistrate has been removed, and horses and cattle are allowed to wander about the same as before the Town Board was thought of. What is the reason of this change? Have the members caught the retrenchment feyer? or have they an eye to the grass that is growing all over the streets for their stock? I notice that several members arc taking advantage of the grass, but it is to be hoped that the Town Board will bestir themselves, and put a stop to the present state of things, and not have the two extremes that we have had.—Yours, etc., Ratxpaxxb.
