AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Mblboueke, Dec. 5. Messrs Dalgely and Co. (Limited) held their usual weekly wool sale (his afternoon. There was a large attendance of buyers, and bidding throughout was remarkably brisk, A marked improvement in tone was manifested, which was attributable to the news received of an advance in prices at the London wool sales, the depression of last week being fully recovered,. One thousand eight hundred bales were offered, of which 1600 were disposed of at very satisfactory price?, Superior greasy merinos sold up to lOd, and in some instances per lb ; medium to good do brought from 7-Jd to 9d ; while inferior to medium sorts reached from 6d to 7|d per pound ; medium to good crossbred brought as much asß|d; merino lambs’ wool as high as 10£d per lb ; scoured merino and crossbred sold up to Is 2|d, while medium washed merino realised in some instances per lb. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from Loudon, dated December 2nd 1887 : Wool Competition is increasing and market is firmer, especially for new clip long staple merino, light in grease.

ENGLISH MARKETS.

London. Dec. 5. At the wool sales to-day a catalogue comprising about 10,700 bales was submitted to auction. Recent advances were firmly maintained. German sugar has advanced to 15s 3d per cwt, The January crop is quoted at fid higher, and cane sorts are dearer. The market is strong.
