IRISH AFFAIRS.
London, Nov. 30. A great Unionist demonstration took place to-day. The gathering comprised leading representatives of the commercial and industrial interests, the professions being well represented. The principal speakers were the Marquis of Hartington, and Mr Goschen, Chancellor of the Exchequer, both of whom declared that the meeting then assembled proved that though numerically in a minority, thov were the power whereon the greatness and prosperity of Ireland depended. Both gentlemen in vigorous terms opposed the granting of Home Rule. The greatest enthusiasm prevailed throughout the meeting. Lord Hartingion, speaking nt Dublin, said that the legitimate national aspiration of Ireland might be satisfied like Scotland under Imperial Parliaments, and Mr Goschen said that a bastard nationalism would only produce unendurable friction between Great Britain and Ireland.
