OVERSEER'S REPORT. v The Overseer’s report was read and, considered as follows : “Tothe Chairman and Commissioner* Arowhenua Town Board. . “ Gentlemen, —l have the honor / to submit the following report:— According to arrangements made at the special sitting of the Board I took over from the late Clerk such books and papers as were required for immediate use. These I found duly in order. I desire to express my appreciation of the trouble to which Mr Dyson went to explain to me the system upon which he has been working, and also the arrangements made for contemplated works. No works have been carried out during the month. The formation of Maudt street will be commenced during the next fortnight, subject to the approval of the Board. I visited the township during the recent flood, and found that little damage had been done although in several places surface water had accumulated. The pipes at the junction of Denmark and Studholme streets are obstructed, and will require to be cleaned. Water also accumulates at the Junction of Denmark and Hayhurst streets, and the footpath near Mr Charteris’ residence will require attention. Some steps might also well be taken to relieve •Mrs Polaschek’s sections from surface water. The culvert and drain near * 1 Mrs McKenzie’s did not appear to be ' working well, and the croising at the : junction of Maude Street with the Town Belt was in a bad condition. ( The formation of Maude Street will ; greatly improve this. One of the , Board’s cottages is now vacant, and . could be utilised for an office if thought desirable. I would suggest , that a surface man be employed for a . few days during the month to do necessary patching and clean the cnl- J , verts. The balance in the bank to th(^ ( credit of the Board is £B7 19s sd. " t I have, etc., Aled. W. Gaze, ’ Clerk to the Board. The Overseer was instructed to j carry out the Maude Street Contract as f soon as possible, and invite tenders [ for shingling the same, to be in by ( next meeting, He was also instructed . to arrange for the services of a sur--5 face man to carry out the suggested ( repairs. h OEPICES, ETC. . Mr Story proposed, and Mr Austin i, seconded—“ That the Clerk arrange :i ) for the fitting up of one of the cotl tages as an office at as early a date 5 as possible.” : Some minor matters were discussed, 5 and the Board adjourned.
