Some interesting experiments have been instituted in Franco with a view to ascertain which arc the most prolific varieties of wheat, and they have resnlled in establishing the superiority of the Nursery, Hunter coming second, Victoria third, «nd Goldendrop fourth. The number of grains on e«ch oar of wheat were as follows ;—Nursery, 43; Hunter, 38; Victoria, 31; and Qoldendrop, 30. The proportions as regards the straw produce did not differ materially from these.
A story of mental telegraphy comes from Christchurch, which may have something in it, but ns told it does not hang together, r lhe story is that a lady in Christchurch was, nbont seven o’clock one Wednesday evening, suddenly seized with a peculiar kind of fit, and she w»s queer for some days after. By and-by comes (be news from Melbourne that her sister was killed on the railway at Essenden about seven o’clock on that Wednesday evening. The narrator forgot that there is a difference of about 100 minutes between Cirrintohurch and Melbourne time.
