On Friday, In reply to questions, Ministers said that owing to arrangements made with lessees of railway refreshment rooms nothing could be done in putting on refreshment carriages until the leases of the refreshment rooms expired, They would consider the question of giving £SOO to enable one of the University professors, with the Inspect or of the School of Mines, to visit America to elicit mining information. Instructions would be given to allow platelayers to work 15 minutes longer, so as to let them off an hour earlier ou Saturdays. The Financial, debate was continued bv Mr Fish, who spoke for three and a-balf hours against the Governmanl. Mr Tannsr and Dr Filcbett spoke until 11.30, when the debate adjourn«d.
