EXTRAORDINARY FRENCH DUELLING SCENE.

M. Frantz Perreil, one of the seconds of M. Gustave Naquet, who seized the sword of M. Menviell with whom he was fighting a duel at Grenoble, at the same time inflicting a severe wound on his adversary, gives a very graphic account of the affair. He says that both the principals were as pale as death, but otherwise cool I and collected. When M. Gustave Naquet, taking hold of M. Menviell’s weapon with his left hand, wounded him in the thigh, the latter called out “ Assassin! assassin !” M. Frantz Perreil exclaimed, "It is abominable,” and M. Martin walking up to M. Naquet, struck him twice on the face. M. Gustave Naquet threw himself on M. Martin, while another of the seconds, embracing M. Frantz Perreil, wi’h tears, said, “He must not leave the place.” M. Naquet, regaining composure, also hugged M, Frantz Perreil, but the latter indignantly told him that he had irretrievably disgraced himself, and had no course left him but to withdraw from the society of men of honor. M. Naquet at first maintained that he had not seized M. Menviell's sword, but when it was pointed out to him that his left band bore traces of the fact he admitted it, and expressed his regret. His mouth was bleeding profusely, and it is presumed that he had bitten his tongue in the heat of the encounter. Finally he retired alone, and has since been arrested.
