A curious incident occurred in Melbourne in connection with the attempted murder ot Detective Nixon by Fam 11, a well-known criminal. The bullst fired from the rovolvi-r by Fiirrell struck a pocket-book contaiiiiiiJ letters photograph.", etc., euriiod in ihe bn.-ual pocket'of the detective, but; did not enter his body. One photograph I Inrush which tiie bullet passed was that of a desperate criminal from New fouth Wales who is known to be ;it lup'e in Victoria. The bullet went drtm through tho face of the photogn.ph, but fortunately another copj can be procured.
