AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. TIMARU. Messrs Grade, Macleaa and Adam report for tbe fortnight ending Saturday as follows: Horses—At the Timaru Horse Bazaar, on the 15th inst,, our entry was small, and to-day our entry of 25 bead was made up of backs and light harness horses, and a few draughts. The Clydesdale entire, Young Clyde, failed to find a purchaser, but be is now under offer and will probably remain in this district. We sold 15 head to-day at up to £2O for draughts, medium to good hacks £lO to £l6, inferior £3 to £B. Cattle—At Pleasant Point on the 12th inst,, the store pens were well filled, and nearly all the lots changed hands. We sold 10 head steers and heifers at £3 10s, 5 cows at £2los, 3 at £2 12s Cd, 3 at £3 2s 6d, and 2 steers at 32s 6d. At Wasbdyke yards on Thursday, there was very little business done in beef, but steers were in active demand, and prices firm—at for forward steers £5 2s 6d, dry cows 30a to 4js, calves 15s to 18s. At auction we sold 22 head, and (privately) 25 bead fat bullocks and 20 stores. Sheep—At the Point sale there was a good yarding and an active demand. Our sales were—26 fat wethers at 12s, 93 ewes and wethers at lls 6d, 184 2-tooth* at 10a 6d to 10s 9d, 180 hoggets at 8s 3d to 8a 4d, 150 at 7a 9d. At Washdyka we sold 54 wethers at 14s sd, 50 ewes at 10a, 160 shorn ewes at 6s 6d. Stores—ls 4 6-tooths at 8s 10d, 270 hoggets at 7s 6d, 61 at 7e 9d, 302 at 6a 10d, and (privately) 50 fat lambs and 500 crossbred hoggets. Skins—At our regular sale on Wednesday we catalogued and sold over 1500 and four bales merinos. The latter sold at 5d per lb ; best butchers’ crossbred skins realised 4s 101 to 5s 8d ; merinos, up to 5a ; country skins in proportion. Hides—We have sold 45 at 3d, 3£d, and 4d, according to weight and condition. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, Oct. 21. Tbe ostial weekly wool sale of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company was held to-day. Three thousand three hundred and twenty bales were offered to a large attendance of buyers. Tbe market is slightly easier. Greasy lambs’ wool realised lid, and several clips of greasy from 8d to 9d. Scoured is in slightly better demand at Is 6|d. Sydney, Oct. 21. New Zealand wheat continues at 3s 3d to 3s 6d per bu'tbel. New Zealand oats are slightly easier at Is lOd to 2s 2d per bushel. Maize maintains last week’s advance, and is quoted at 3s lOd per 561bs. The market is glutted with potatoes, which in consequence are 10s per ton lower. Thirty-five shillings per ton is the best price obtainable. Adelaide, Oct. 21. Shipping wheat is at 3s 6d per bnshel. Town flour, £9 per ton; country brands, £8 ss. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Oct. 20. The next series of colonial wool auctions commence on November 28th. The arrivals to date amount to 30.000 bales, and the total probable quantity available for the series is estimated at 170,000 bales, Oct. 21. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for tbe United Kingdom is 1,490 000 quarters, and for the Continent 1,610,000 quarters. Get. 22. The wheat market has a rising tendency. Quotations for Australian consignments are unchanged. American shipments are light, but those from Russia are abundant. The flour market is firm, but tbe demand is quiet.
