MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.

■ The ordinary meeting of the Board was held in the Road Board Office, Pe l Forest, on Friday, the 21s' inst. Present —Messrs 0. G. Tripp, R. Mackay, K. Thew, and G. J- Deoniatoun. In the absence of the Chairman Mr C. G. Tripp was voted,to the chair. MINUTES. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. TENDERS. Tenders for contract No. 13 were opened and considered ; —Thos. Corkery, £120; R. Rae, £94 6s 81 ; Andrew Reid, £B6 ; M. Duggan £59 (accepted). CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read and considered From the Hon. J. B. A. Acland, applying for leave of absence from the meetings of the Board during the session of the General Assembly.—Granted. From the Geraldine Road Board in reference to boulders stacked on the Rungitata station road, and thanking the Board for information re cost of footbridge. From Messrs Miles and Co., enclosing rate upon land occupied by Messrs Studholme and Wigley. From the Manager of the Trust and Agency Company, requesting that the name of Messrs Studholme and Wigley be placed upon the rate roll for property occupied by them in place of the Com-pany,-—Resolved that the alteration be made as requested unless objections were made by Messrs Studholme and Wigley. Mr Tripp made application for permission to take a water-race across certain roads through his property, he undertaking to to pay the cost of such crossings. BATE. -Proposed by Mr Tripp, seconded by Mr,. Dennistoun, and carried-- 11 That no rj||te be collected this year owing to there being no subsidy granted to local bodies oh rates collected by them after the 31st March last.” The Clerk was instructed to write to the Geraldine County Council stating that in the opinion of Ibis Board a concrete culvert is required across the road at Tripp’s cutting in the water-race, as the ford is at present dangerous to traffic. ACCOUNTS. After passing accounts to the amount of £2031 s lOd the Board adjourned.
