IRISH AFFAIRS.
London, Oct. 11. Mr Harrington, who defended the prisoners charged with murder at Mitchelatown, claims a verdict of murder against Inspector Brownrigg and the policemen who fired on the mob in tho Milchelstown riots. Oct. 12. Mr Chamberlain was received with great enthusiasm on his arrival at Belfast, and entertained at a banquet in that town last evening. Responding to a toast, Mr Chamberlain urged upon those present the necessity for the Ulster men making their voice heard upon the question of separation, and slated that he considered them properly justified in asserting their rights to consideration in any settlement of the question. Later. The Daily News slates that the Government will likely try to suppress the leagues throughout Ireland. Mr Chamberlain, speaking at a banquet given in bis honor at Belfast, aaid, referring to Home Rule, that it was impossible U force Ulster to accept what she distrusted and detes'ed. The inquiry into the circums ances attending the dea’h of tb? persons killed during the disturbance which look place on September Sth at Mitchslstown, closad to-day. The Coroner’s jury returned a verdict of wilful murder against the Police Inspector and five of the constables who were present at the riots.
