QUERY.
(Sir, —WouM you kiudly inform me what has become of Sir Cori O'Lanus, or has lie loft your office ? If in carrying out retrenchment you retrenched Sir Cori out of the office, T think, you have made a mistake, as I liked, and for the maltcr of that my family liked, " The Wftys of the World " written by that lalontod Jubiiee Knight better thun anything eise.—T am, etc., John Storkby. [Sir Cori O'Lanus left Naw Zealand several months ago in compliance with a request he received by cabla from Bulgaria, Afi our correspondent doubtle6B knows, until about ten years ago Bulgaria was tyrannised over by Turkey. At that time Sir Cori O'Lanas risked the country, and, touched by the atrocities-committed on the poor people there, he led them to rebellion, with the result that they gained their independence, Ho drew up their form of government for them, .and deubtless would have been sleeted Prince only for a mishap. A Princess fell in love with him, and as he had already been married there was nothing for it but to leave.
"In the fight with. lovs alone the glory is in flying." And he flew, and the Princess died. The Bulgarians, remembering his administrative talents, concluded that no other man could save ttair country, and cabled for him. He ought to have arrived tbrre just about the same time as our cablegrams announced that Prince Ferdinand had been elected and had reached there. Wo have very little doubt but that Sir Cori's Royal name is Ferdinand. Like actors and aotresses, Royal person ages give tbeir real names. He promised that if he settled dovui there he would send for the whole plant and staff of this paper, ap he said he was determined to conduct the government on Liberal principles, and would require the nssistance of a truly Liberal paper. Our own opinion is that he will soon get tired of Bulgaria, and return to New Zealand. Wo expect to bear from him by the next mail, if not by cablegram.—The Editor ]
