TE WHITES LATEST SCHEME.
New Plymouth, Sept. 28. The object of the Parihaka meeting that has just concluded was for the purpose of arranging the presentation of 2000 head of cattle to Te Whiti. The meeting was a moat representative one, there being Natives from miles distant. It will naturally be wondered where Te Whiti is going to graze such a large number of cattle, but this will readily be seen when it is stated that be has subdivided the land around Parihaka into large paddocks securely fenced. In future no pigs will live at the settlement, and it is said that the few porcines that survived the recent slaughter have been already killed. The cattle above mentioned will be contributed by Natives in all parts of the colony, and should the gigantic scheme ever be carried out Te Whiti will be the runner of a ranch of considerable .magnitude, ,A Native, who attended the late meeting informed a pakeha that things were in a bad state at Parihaka, bat whether he took his view of matters from the fact that two Natives died on Thursday, and a couple of days before that a woman was found dead in the bush, it is difficult to conjecture.
