Ciucos.—Messrs Herbert and Fitzgerald’s Great London Circus appears at Temuka tonight. It should be noted that the stay of the circus is limited to one night. Electokal Addresses. — Mr J, M. Twomoy will address the electors at Pleasant Point on Friday night and at Temuka on Saturday night. Gbbaldinb Town Board.— Three persons were nominated on Saturday last to fill the vacancy on this Board, named by the resignation of Mr B, H, Pearpoiut, viz,:—Messrs James Williams, Qeo. Taylor, and Amor Sherrutt. The election takes plico on Sept. 88ih. Omitted,— Owing to an oversight on the part ef the handioapper, the handicapping of Mr F. Simmons'Kate was omitted from the list of weights for the Welter Handicap at the Geraldiae Racing Club’s Spring Meeting, to be held on 29tb and 30th insts. Kate’s weight is Bst Slbs. Alleged Hobbe-stealihg.-—-A man named Jas, H, Oarleton was arrested at Pleasant Point on Saturday on a charge of larceny as bailee of two horses, the property Mr Hugo Friedlander. The alleged offence was committed in May last, Prisoner came before the Mayor of Timaru, and was remanded to Ashburton. New Pbbsbytebun Ohcboh, QbbalDIKE. —The contractor for the new Presbyterian Church, Geraldine, was busy yesterday marking out the foundations of the building. Should the work be pushed on it will not be long before this body will have a place of worship in one of the most central and best spots in the township. Fatal Aooidbkt.—A man named William Green, in the employ of Mr W. Goeliog, of Mount Horrible, met with an accident on Saturday, which resulted fatally, fie was driving a two-horse team home, and when attempting to jump on one of the shafts of the dray, fell, and the wheel passed over his body. Ho was taken to the hospital, but his injuries were very severe, and ho died on Sunday afternoon.
Qbbaidibh Dojtaib Boabb,—A special meeting of the members of this Board was held on Friday STening last for the purpose of dealing with matters connected with the fencing of the bush reserve. The dispute re the contract for tile fenoe was settled to the satisfaction of both parties. The contractors preferred a claim against the Board of £l2 upon thrir contract, £1 of this being extras for flood gates. It was decided, in view of the Overseer’s report, to offer the contractors 10 guineas in full acquittal, which was accepted, OoumbmosAtit*,—-There is now on view at Mr Robert Murray’s, watchmaker, Temuka, the trowel that was presented by the Jubilee Committee to Mr K. F. Gray on the occasion of the laying of the foundation stone of the obelisk in Victoria Park. The trowel has been entrusted to Mr R. Murray to bo engraved and this he has done very neatly. The inscription is as follows Presented to K. F. Gray, Eiq., Chairman of the Temuka Town Board, on the occasion of his laying the foundation stone of the obelisk in the Victoria Park, Temuka, in commemoration of the Queen’s Jubilee, 21st June, 1887. Mbetiko ob Cbbdxtobs.—A meeting of the creditors in the estate of Siegert and Fauvel took place at Timaru on Friday. The Deputy Assignee presided, and he explained that the meeting was called to consider what steps should be taken in regard to certain claims. At the request of the chairman, Mr Koubly explained the legal difficulties which surrounded the distribution of the assets in the estate, and stated that Mr Raymond and himself had gone vsry carefully into the mailer, and advised that the i opinion of the DisfrictOourt Judge should be taken. After a discussion it was resolved—“ That the Assignee be requested to get the proof of debt of Messrs P. W, Hutton and Co., against the estate of Julius Siegert for the purpose of bringing a case before the court so as to test the claims of creditors in Julius Siegert’s estate, and to indemnify Messrs P. W. Hutton and 00, for any expense they may incur.” It was also resolved—“ That the time for receiving I enders for the estate be extended to the 29th of this month,’and also that certain alteiations be made in terms under which tenders are invited.’
