GERALDINE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The usual monthly meeting of this Committee was held in (he schoolroom on Wednesday evening last. Present —Messrs W. S. ftiaalin (Chairman), .7. Cunningham, R H. Pearpoint, J. JRiordan, 0, E. Sberratt, A. White. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. DEPUTATION. Messrs J.Mundell,and A.McKenzie, waited upon the Commit ee With a request from the Presbyterian Church for the use of the schoolroom, for holding service in daring the erection of the new church. The time required would be about three months. CnBKESPONDVNCK. A letter was received from the South Canterbury Boa' d of Education, for* avding the names of Messrs R. H. Pearpoint and Job Brown, who had been nominated to fill the vacancy on the Board of Education, caused by the resignation of Dr Foster, and requesting the Committee to vote for oue of these. The Committee decided to vote for Mr Pearpoint. MASTER'S REPORT. The Head Master’s report was read. It showed the average attendance for the four weeks to be 190.3. It also menti ned several articles that were required for use in the was decided to obtain the articles necessary. It was also decided to close the school for two half days during the races. VISITOR. Mr White, on behalf of the Visiting Committee, reported that they had visited the school during the month and found everything working satisfactorily. Ho also stated that he had inspected the roof as requested, and found that it was in a very bad state of repair. The whole building was so bad that it would not be advisable to do anything to the roof. He also stated that a few yards of wire netting were necessary to put round the bell tower to keep the sparrows out. It was decided to get the same. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £4t 7s Bd, were passed for payment. LETTING THE SCHOOL. Theque tion of letting the school to the Presbyterian Church, then came up. It was decided to rescind the resolution passed at a previous meeting, re letting the school for the purpose of holding religious meetings. Mr Pearpoint then proposed, Mr Cunningham seconded, and it was carried—“ That the application of the Presbyterian Church for the use of the school, for morning and afternoon service be granted, at a charge of 5a per Sunday, the Chairman to make arrangements with the caretaker for extra remuneration.” This being all the business, the meeting terminated.
