Sydney, Sept. 7. The office hours of Civil servants has been fixed at 9 a.m. to 4.40 p.m., D°t 5 t) m. as previously announced. Sept. 8. The steamship Mariposa sailed yesterday for Auckland and San Francisco. She lakes a large quantity of gold for the latter port, The long contested railway arbitration case O’Rourke and McSharry v. Government of New South Wales, which commenced on April Ist, has just been brought to a conclusion. The original claim was for £104,000, and the award of the arbitrators has been fixed at £20,500. The steamship Bellinger, chartered by the Federated Seamen’s Union, leaves for Auckland next Monday. Dissatisfaction is expressed by the
Shipowners’ Association at the owner allowing the vessel to be chartered. Brisbane, Sept, 8. Parliament has accepted a tender for 67 miles of rabbit fencing to be erected on the borders of New South Wales, Hobart, Sept, 8. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s R.M.S, Aoraugi arrived at 8.30 a.m. to-day, en route for Wellington.
