SUDDEN DEATHS.
Three painfully sudden deaths occurred in Palmerston North on Monday night. The first of these was Mr S. J. Pndevin, a farmer resident a mil* or two out of Palmerston North, Although he had been ailing for soma time past, ho whs fairly well on Monday, and was about the house when lie was taken suddenly very ill, and, notwithstanding medical aid, died within an hour or two. He was a well known settler, and was much respected in the district. — A,t the same time a man named O’Brien, a b«sb feller stopping at Walsh’s boardingheuse, dropped down suddenly in the yard of the house without any warning and expired. He had just previously eaten a good tea and was apparently in good health. He had on'y arrived in town on Monday from Ohau, where he had been working, and was going on to a bush section he owned in the Thirty Mile Bush—l'he third case was that ot a man named Smith who had been ailing for some time and was stopping at a boarding-house in town, Ha was about as usual on Monday night, and when his bedroom door was opened on Tuesday morning he was found dead in bed. He was a stranger in town. A fatal accident occurred at Corfe’s Bush, Gladstone (Wellington), on Tuesday morning. John Williams was engaged in felling bush, when a tree fell on him, killing him on the spot. Deceased leaves a wife and young family.
