SALE OF LORD A. LOFTUS' EFFECTS.
Sydney, August 22. The great attraction append to be that almost every article bore the crest of his Lordship. The most of the articles offered were ex.cel'ent in quality, and the sale was carried on briskly, while in m-iny instances tho prices realised were high, Among scores of beautiful and highly valued pieces disposed qf tho mo3t noticeable jq the raried collection were some presentation pieces to the Governor and a magnificent electro-plated table cenlre ornament, with two ten-light candelabra, and epergoe. These latter articles oocfc originally over £3OQ, and were disposed of for under £IOO. A so'id silver boar's head inkstand en a marble stand, bearing the following inscription, was sold for 5s 101 an ounce :—" Presented to lord, Augustus Loftus by the members'of his ii'issiou, in token of their ■ affectionate'j respect. Vienna, D< comber, 18G0.", There was. also a silver cake b.ibket,' weighing abou' 100 ounces, |presentud to Lord Augustus on the twenty-fi'th anniversary of his wedding-day, by the 10th Hilars.
