AUCTIONEERS' REPORT. TIMARU. Messrs Gracie, Maclean and Adam report for the fortnight ending Saturday as follows: Horsen -At the Timaru Horse Bazaar on the 20th inst. our entry was small, but most of the good draughts changed hands during the day, the business in hacks being nomioal. To-day's entry was the l»rg s l . and most valuable we have had for monlhß post. Competition throughout the sale was lively, and prices for good young draughts were considerably in advance of late rates. We sold over 30 head draughts, at for medium to best, £l6 to £26 10s ; colta, fillies, and light draughts, £6 5s to £l3 10d ; medium hacks, up to £10; light aud weedy, £3 to £6 10*. Cattle--At Waabdyke on Thursday there were only a few pens of medium quality beef, for which there was but little demand, owing, we have no doubt, to the fact that the trade had been purchasing privately beforehand. We sold 6 head of light weights at from £4 6a to £4 17s 6d ; 3 head at £4 17s ; cows at from £3 5s to £4 5s ; and during the week we sold 82 head store cattle <it satisfactory price?. Sheep—At Washdyke on Thursday the competition for both fat and stores lacked animation, many of the lots beiDg passed in unsold, but nearly all the best lines were subsequently disposed of privately at a alight decline on former rates. We sold at auction 44 crossbred wethws at 12a 6 J , 44 half bred lambs at Joi 6d ; 100 ewes at 8s ; 41 merino wethers nt 8s ; 100 crossbred hoggets at 7s 9d ; and privately 200 prime crossbred ewes, 120 half-brei ewes, 112 fat crossbred wethers, 83 do do and 200 crossbred ewea in lamb. Pigs—At auction and privately we sold 56 at 6s 6d to 15s for weanerß and slips. . Skins—We held our usual fortnightly salo on Wednesday, and catalogued over 2500 skins, loose and in bales. Buyers were well represented, and prices obtained all that could reasonably be expected by sellers. Best butchers' crossbred skins fetched from 4s 8d to 6s Id ; merinos, up to 4s 6d ; and country skins in proportion. Crossbreds, in bales, ssd to 6d per lb.
