The Australian-New Zealand mails (dated Auckland, July 28th), via San Francisco, were delivered to-day. The Pope and the Propaganda have forestalled the Protestant missionary organisation, accepting the offer of the New South Wales Government of 350 acres of land to any mission having for its object the civilisation of the natives. Frequent deaths bare occurred at Malta from cholera. A brandy ring, with an immense capital, is endeavoring to monopolise the trade in Germany. The oranges by the Iberia realised 14:8 a box. Roms, Aug. 25. The Pope has : announced that, in response to the offers, of the N.S.W. Government,,the Propaganda is enlisting missionaries, chiefly Irish, of the Trappist Order, to undertake the work of civilising the natives of the Pacific Islands, Copenhagen, Aug. 26, The Emperor of Russia has arrived here on a visit to King Christian.

Sydney, Aug. 26. A protest has been made against the removal of the restrictions on the importation of stock into New South Wales.
