FOOTBALL.
TEMUKA F. WINCHESTER. On Saturday afternoon a match was flayed in the Temuka Park between teams picked from the Temuka and "Winchester Clubs, and resulted in a draw. J. "W. Yelvin captained Te!>€K Smith Winchester. The' game was a tightly contested one throughout, the sides being very, matched, and the first spell was one succession of scrimmages GjBO, Yelvin, .however, who played - throughout a capital .game, succeeded in .potting -a goal, but. it was . disallowed' on" the ground that it ■‘>‘tiDttibhed :an r; going Yoverthebar.;. In the second spell the , Winchester men appeared at first to - have-somewhat the best of it, but the ■: Temuka team soon rallied, and held their own with a little to spare till the close of the game. For Temuka — O. Yelvin. J. Clinch,, Browne, Carr, Hope, and Thomson did good service, Irlme for Winchester—Harte, Smith, Ifabin, Stewart (2), and Sballard were conspicuous.
