JUBILEE CELEBRATION COMMITTEE.

A meeting of fche above Committee was held at the Town Board Office, Temuka, on Tuesday evening. Present—Messrs Gray (Chairman), Blyth, Lorens, Flint, Henry, Wright, Lawson, and Dyson. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Several members of the Committee then handed in various subscriptions received since last meeting, amounting in all to £6 10s. A number of small accounts, amounting lo £4 9a lid, wore considered and passed for payment. The Chairman intimated that the Park Board had granted a donation of £lO 10s to the general fund. The Seer, tary, Mr Dyson, then made a rough calculation from the figures before him, and stated that there would be a balance to the credit of the Committee, after discharging all liabilities, of upwards of £27. Tin's announcement was received with expressions of satisfaction f-om all present. ■ A general discu»sion ensued as to the best plan to ho adopted for obtaining an obelisk. The Chairman stated that he had several designs (hat had been forwarded hi!n that were at the disposal of the Committee. Mr A, Q. Wrig-ht advocated the propriety of obtaining a block of ILikahu marble,• and having it done locally. Various other suggestions were made, and it was ultimately resolved to appoint a sub-Oomraittse, consisting of Messrs Gray, Bhth, Henry, and A. G. Wright, to deal with the m tier. It was suggested that when the obi lisk was properly erected due certmohy stiould be observed in the unveiling of at me, and, if porsible, sports and fireworks should bn arranged for.
