TIMARU HIGH SCHOOL F. TEMUKA HIGH SBHOOL. j On Saturday afternoon at Temuka a match was played Between the Timaru and Temuka High School cluhs. The former team was hy far the heavier, and at the commencement of the game it was thought that they would have it all their own way. It was shortly seen, however, that whak the Temuka team lacked in weight was made up in energy and pluck, and the game resulted in a win for the home team hy two points. In the first spell some very pretty play was shown —the Timaru hoys being remarkable for their neat passing, while the Temuka lads fought hard to keep the hall well within their adversaries’ 25, at the same time playing a nice open game, W. Gray, who gives promise of making a capital forward, secured a try for his side (Temuka), and also potted a goal, Some dispute arose about the goal, hut it was eventually allowed. Goldstone, Storey, and M. McLeod showed up well for Temuka, while J. Austin was a host in himself. In the second spell the superior weight of Timaru began to tell, and Temuka had somewhat of an uphill game to play. They stuck to it most manfully, however, and hy sheer perseverance prevented their opponents from scoring on several occasions. Timaru succeeded towards the close of the game in securing two tries, but failed to further increase the score. For Timaru, Percival Eeese, Tate, and Kirby were conspicuous; and for Temuka, in addition to those previously mentioned, T. Austin and Henry did good service. Messrs Raymond and F. K, Gray umpired for Timaru and Temuka. respectively, and Mr Mclntosh acted as refenH^r GERALDINE WANDERERS V.
