SOUTH ORARI SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The monthly meetisg of the South Orari School Committee was held in the schoolroomon Monday, 15th inst. Pre. aent-i-Messrs K, A.' Barker (Chairman) Coles, McLeod, Bisset, Binskin, and Bllis. ' :••..!■■.'' The minutes of the previous meeting were read'and confirmed. ; Correspondence was read as follows: From the Education Board—l. Notifying payment o{>£4: ; lOa';SS,.incidentals for current quarter. 2. Re' letting school '"'* residences, 3. Re nominating a member of the Board "vice JJr Poster, resigned. i From the School Committee, Geraldine, stating that Mr Penrpoint bad been nominated by them to fill the vacancy, aud asking co-operation. From Constable Wiiloughby, GeraiJi.ne, stating, that he had served notices on certain parents as directed. Resolved i'That? this Committee take no action at present re filling the vncancy caused by Dr Foster's resignation.":. : -■■■ ■"■ :.n:- ' Reso'.ved— u That as this children offcT the parents on whom notices have re- '' cently been served, hare hot attended school since, the parent's be summoned forthwith.",. ...... ..','•<' ,;, The master's report, which was then read, showed the strict average attendance for the last four weeks to have been—Boys, 18.6; girls, J 5.4; total, M« : . . . ; : -/.-. The visitor (Mr McLeod) reported that he found the work going on very ; satisfactorily. Ho recommended that the fenc?S'be trimmed, and a new gate erected. Resolved—" That Mr.Qbles get the fences trimmed and the gate erected. V *Mr Coles was ; appdmied tor next month. Mr Binskin, for the dancing class, applied for the use of for another term. "''■■•" 1;: - ] * .■Mr Coles moved, : and Mr Bisset seconded— " That the application be grantpd on the same terms as before, . provijed that no soap or- grease be used on the floor." /'; Mr Binskin, for the dancing class, paid £1 4s for the use of the room, and JOs were received from' Mr Palmer, towards the Library fund. Tho n?t amount in hand toward* the Library: fund was stated to be *l7 15s 6d. Mr Binskin moved, and Mr Bisset seconded—" That application be made to the Education Board for a subsidy for the Library.'' After payment of an account for school cleaning the meeting adjourned.
