RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Temuka—Wednesday, August 17, 1887.
Before U. Inwood, James Guild, and J. T, M. Huyliurst, Erq»., J.P.’s. DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. A first offender pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place on tbe night of August 12th. Constable Morton stated that accused was an old resident, and bad never misconducted himself before. Dismissed with a caution. UNREGISTERED DOGS. Hape and Solomon (natives) were each fined 10s and costs for haying unregistered dogs in their possession, James Eoberts (native) pleaded guilty to having two unregistered dogs, and wa« fined 10s and costs. Albert Leonard was charged with having an unregistered dog in his possession, and denied the ownership of it —Constable Morton stated that he had found the dog at Leonard’s place, and Mrs Leonard said that tbe dog belonged to her husband.—-For the defence, Leonard stated that the dog belonged to a Mr Walker, although it was often on his place.— Edward Walker corroborated defendant’s evidence, and the case was dismissed. Sarah Hay, charged with having two unregistered dogs in her possession, pleaded that one was nob her property, and the other was under six months old.—After hearing evidence a fine of 10s and costs was inflicted in one case only. George Smith, for having one un- ' registered dog, was fined 10s and costs. CATTLE ON THE LINE. Ann Gibbs, who did not appear, was charged with allowing a cow to wander on the railway line. Constable Strickland proved the offence, and a fine of 10s was inflicted. Helier Pauvel, for a similar offence was fined a like amount. CIVIL CASES. George Bobon v. Jeremiah Tang ney—Claim £3 Is lOd. Judgment summons. There was no appearance of the defendant. Claimant stated that he believed defendant had earned since the judgment sufficient money to pay the amount, but was not prepared to prove anything without putting defendant in the box. After consultation an order was made for the payment of 20s forthwith, and 10s per week, in default 1 4i days’ imprisonment. Job Brown y. Chas. Wells—Claim £4<. Judgment by default with costs.
