AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT.
Messrs Gracie, Maclean and Adam report for the fortnight ending Saturday as follows; — Horses—At the Timara Morse! Bazaar on Saturday last, and again to-day, our entries were small, and notwithstanding the fact that the quality of the draughts on both days was remarkably good, neither the demand nor prices obtained came up to our prediction of two weeks ago. But we still cling to the opinion that good young draughts will improve in value towards spring. Our sales are: For medium to good draughts £l4loa to £25 (the latter being the best price today), inferior to agad £6 to £lO. Hacks, entry small, quality bad, sales in proportion. Cattle- At Pleasant Point monthly sale on the Ist inst., there was a good demand for fat cattle, and prices obtained were equal to 17s 6d per lOOlbs. We sold 10 head at from £4 7a 6d to £5 5s ; we also sold at auction and privately 187 store cattle at from £2 to £3 17s 6d per head. Our sales at Washdyke on Thursday were 2 bullocks at £7 10s each, 6 at £5 17s 6d, 4 at £5 2s 6d, 7 at £5 ss, 4 at £4 7a 6d, 6 at £4 Is, 14 mixed cattle at from 16s to £3, and privately 20 fat cattle at from £5 5s to £6 Is, and 47 store heifers. Sheep—At Pleasant Point there was a very marked improvement in prices for all classes, and every line changed bands. Washdyke sale also participated in the improved values, and with reasonably fine weather we may look forward to present rates being maintained. Our sales ware, at auction, 115 cull ewes at 4s 2d, 120 fat 2-toeths at 10s 6d, 187 ewes at 7s lOd, 45 ewes at 6s 7d, and 67 hoggets (a very prime lot) at 9 a Id. Privately, we sold and delivered in lots 865 2-tooth crossbreds, and 287 hoggets. Pigs—At various sales we disposed of 34 at 4s 6d for weaners, slips 6s 6d to Bs, and porkers 18s to 225. Skins—We bold our fortnightly sale on Wednesday, when we catalogued over 2000 skins, all of which were sold at prices highly satifactory, to consignors. Beat crossbreds (batchers) reached 5s 6d, merinos 4s 4d.
Country Sa'es—W« held a clearing sale yesterday on account of Mr S. Cain, at his farm, Seadown, and although the day was exceedingly cold there was a large muster of farmers and others, who showed their appreciation of good stock by bidding freely and giving good prices. Beat draught horses sold up to £27, and crossbred hoggets at 9«. Implements and sundries also sold well.

ENGLISH MARKETS.
' London, Aug. 11. The Antwerp wool sales will open on the 17tb. Thirty-seven thousand bales will be offered, including 11,000 bales of Australian wool. Aug. 12. Adelaide wheat, ox store, is unchanged at 84s 6d ; and New Zealand wheat is at 83s tp 86s, according to quality. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,810,000 quarters, and for the Continent 464,000 quarters. Australian tallow—-Average quality beef has advanced to 28s ; mutton to 23s 6d. New Zealand frozen mutton, prime quality, is 4d per lb, Aug. IS. The wheat market shows a downward tendency, owing to tha heavy imports. The collapse of the Californian ring has caused a fall of 10s per quarter in California, Several small speculators at Liverpool have failed, The attempted corners at Berlin and Pans have broken down. Forward buying is suspended, and no sales of coast cargoes have been reported. Australian and New Zealand sorts on the spot are unchanged. Seven thousand five hundred bales have been salvaged from the ship Darling Dowas, which sank at the Nore from the effects of a collision on May 12th. It has been decided to destroy the hull of tha vessel by means of dynamite.
