Longworth’a brick kilo at North East Valley, Dunedin, fell in at 8,30 on Saturday morning, burying the son of Mr Longworth, the proprietor, and a man named Bamfiold. The former was 20 years of age, and sustained fatal injuries, and tbs latter (who has a wife and sixteen children) had both legs fractured and was otherwise injured, but is expected to recover. The accident was occasioned by the supports to the new kiln being removed before the brickwork had properly get. Arrangements have been concluded for a fight at Wanganui between Richard Matthews of Auckland and Harry Laing of Wanganui, for a stake of £SO a side and the championship of New Zealand. They fight to a finish under the Marquis of Queensbory rules. The match takes place noring the first week in January. The schooner Spray has made a remarkably quick passage from Lyttelton to Invercargill, She left the former port on Thursday and was moored alongside Invercargill jetty on Sunday.
Cooper’s house, Union street, Auckland, was burned on Saturday. It was insured for £2OO in the Norwich Union.
The four year-old boy of Thomas Gresson was accidentally drowned in a cistern at Mount Eden, Auckland, on Sunday afternoon.
