THE COMING ELECTION.

TO THB BEITOR, Sib, —I crave for a small space in your paper for a few words, as ‘here seems to be a great difference between our political men at the present time. The men that call themselves Freetraders are trying to make us believe that to put Protection on our clothing and other things would raise the price too high. Now, sir, I think Mr Tworaey has clearly proved to us that such is not the case. Protection is the very thing we want, and I, for one, urn glad that such an able man as Mr Twomey has taken it up, and I (rust all the working men will give him their support. We hear a great deal about Reform Associations, but I think the greatest reformer of the right stamp is Mr Tworaay, and it is greatly to our interest to give him a fair trial, and wo can do so by placing him at iho hold of the poll. I was also pleased to scs Mr Flatman showing (he right side of the question at Mr Rolleston’s meeting. I think Mr Flatman is th® ssms with politics as he is with other pub'io affairs. He likes (o see everything carried out in a fair and honest way. I wonder that the electors of Rangitata hav# not given him a c dl. Trusting they Will yet do so, and plac® him at the head of the poll, for I am aura he has proved himself to be worthy of their confidence, I am, etc.,

William Cameron, Gapoa’ Valley, Aug. 2, 1887.

[Mr Flatman got the ‘‘call” from the electors of Rangitata’ but refused it. More is the p'ty.—The Editor.]
