Maslin, and J. Mundell. MINUTES. The minutes of the previous ordinary meeting and a special meeting on July 19th, were read and confirmed. OOKRESFONDENCE. Outward correspondence was read and approved of. . Inward was read and dealt with as follows:—. Prom the Registry Office, Christchurch re. the Board's titles. The Clerk was instructed to attend to the same.

Pratt, applying to be allowed to erect a fence across Baker street.—Granted. kangwr's report. The Ranger's report for the month was laid upon the table. THE GERALBINE FOOTBRIDGE. Mr Mundell spoke about the Geraldine footbridge, he thought they should take some steps to act with the Road Board in repairing this bridge. He considered the bridge would be a very useful one, and that it was doing a wrong to the ratepayers to leave it as it was. The Chairman gaid a notice of motion should'have to be given on this question, if anything was .desired to,,be done, at a later stage of the. meeting. —Mr Mundell gave notice that at the next ordinary meeting of the Board hs would move that the Board take such steps as are necessary for the purpose of repairing the footbridge over the Waihi river.: WOTIKS COMMITTEE'S EEPOBT. The Overseer's report was read as follows: — "The Chairman Geraldine Town Board. " Since your last neetinp, the surface men have been engaged in

carrying out certain works, authorised at your last meeting, namely, Huffey'a application, and have nearly completed the floating of the asphalt all the way from the Town Board's office to Dunlop's corner. The watertables have been cleared and the roads requiring shingle have been rounded up to receive the same, prior to its being put on. "Ward, the contractor for carting gravel on to the roads, has made fair progress during the month, and although a little over the specified time to complete the work, I would recommend that he be allowed an extention of time, so as to make a good job of the whole contract of gravelling. I may say that the roacte generally, throughout the town district, are in fair order and condition, the watertables cleared, culverts sufficiently large, when kept open and clear [from debris, but the main footpath needs a little gravel in places, which haß not been contemplated in the present contract for shingling,, but ought to be done in order to make the strip outside the asphalt available for foot traffic. One of the surface men has left, and I'do not think it necessary to engage any one in his place. Eeceipts for the month have been: licenses, £3 12s 6d; tithes, £5 10s; which have been paid out into the bank. —I have the honor to be, etc., " C. E. Sberrat, "Clerk."

It was decided to hold a special meeting of the Board on the 16th insfc., to consider the Board's finances and probable expenditure. While taking upon the finance, Mr Quinn thought a saving could be made in the expenses of the Banger, and moved that the present ranger receive one month's notice to terminate his engagement. Mr Mundell seconded the motion which was carried. CHIMNEY FIEES.
