STRANGE SHOOTING CASE.

Sydney, July 11.

A singular shooting" case, which hag excited considerable interest on account of the positions of the parties concerned, occupied the attention of the Central Police Court on Friday. Jessie Stringer a well-dressed, middle-aged lady, was charged with intent to inflict greivous bodily ; h*rm, and was committed for trial. The prosecutor is the son of Mr Gregory Board, an old man over 80 years of age, who is well known as one of the wealthiest of the old colonists. The prisoner had been acting «s housekeeper for about six years for Board, sen r„ who latterly was very feeble and childish, and said to be completely under the influence of Mrs Stringer, Prom the statement of prosecutor, it appears that this ascendancy of Mrs Stringer over Board, seni'., had been the cause of a good deal ot ill-feeling between the housekeeper and the members of the Board family, who have great expectations under the will of their father. Alfred Board had been in the habit of visiting his father on Sundays, but had lately found the doors and gates locked against him, and had been clearly given to understand in this and other ways that his presence wag distasteful to Mrs Stringer. On Sunday last he effected an entrance into the premises by jumping over the gate with his father's permission, The prisoner then threatened his life. Shortly afterwards while the prosecutor was ia the yard he heard a shot fired, and saw the prisoner a few yards away with a revolver pointed at him. She fired a seoond and a third shot at him, and one bullet whizzed past his head. On the police being called in the prisoner denied having used the revolver, but the weapon was fouud at the bottom of a well. Corroborative testimony was given, and the prisoner was committed for trial.
