A Blue Book of the Colonial Conference has been issued. The reports on the discussion of the New Hebrides question are omitted from the publication.
Liliywhite, Shaw, and Shrewsbury Loll that they are justified in their determination to take a team to Australia next season by the fact that they are under engagement with the Trustees of the Association Ground to do so, and in case of non-compliance the Trustees have threatened to engage an English Eleven independently. The team will leave by the Iberia. Newspapers are now discussing the question of a coalition Ministry, The Standard favors such a change being made in (he autumn. It suggests that Lord Harlington should be Premier. The Jubilee review fleet at Spithead has dispersed. Opportunity was taken by the fleet to execute manoeuvres of practical service. The whole navy manoeuvres were intended to show how the coast lines are protected, and the attack of an imaginary enemy was repelled. The Pope has written to Momignor Del Tindaro, referring at length to the efforts made to effect a reconciliation with the King ef Italy, His Holiness says that Papal liberty is necessary, and territorial sovereignity is the oily guarantee. The Pope is gratified at the influence of the Church being felt in the colonies,
The Pope declines to condemn the American Knights of Labor Society. Jim Smith, the English champion, and Kilrain, the American pugilist, have signed articles to fight for the championship of the world. They will meet on January 3rd next, at some place within a hundred miles of Madrid, The stakes are £SOO a side, The Court has ordered Mr Langworthy to deposit security for the annual pay cent of £6OO to his child. Mrs Langworthy’s alimony and the law costa have been ordered to date from the commencement of the proceedings. The House of Commons has had under discussion a Bill to legalise the marriage at Antwerp. Consideration of the meaauro was adjourned for the produclion of facts in connection with the ceremony.

Mr Charles Rome, of Barcoo (Queensland), committed suicide yesterday. The Morning Post, in an article dealing with the report of the Imperial Conference, demand the immediate fortification of Thursday Island. The Times is not surprised that the colonies refused to accept the Government proposals to fortify Albany with obsolete armament. It considers that if the sole result of the Conference had been the agreement to increase the Australian fleet it would have been worth while convening it, The Daily News reports that letters have been received in Prance that the New Hebrides are in a more hopeful condition. The French settlers are thriving, and relations with the natives are friendly.
Mr J. B, Thurston, of Fiji, has arrived at Washington to attend the conference on Samoan affairs.
The French papers are rejoicing greatly over the report of the colonising agent npon the thriving condition and enormous produce of the aetilements in the New Hebrides. July 28. The vacancy in the Parliamentary representation of the City of London, caused by tbe elevation of Mr Hubbard to the Peerage, has been filled by the election of Mr Thomas Baring (Conservative), unopposed. Lord Brassey, in a letter to the Times, urges that Albany should be fortified, the cost beirg divided between England and the colonies.

Intelligence has been received of the death of Taylor, President of the Mormon Church, who was a fugitive from justice. AUSTRALIAN CABLE. Melbourne, July 28. The Victorian Government intend to telegraph to Europe stating that Mr Hennicker-Heaton is not authorised to interfere in postal questions relating to this colony. Sydney, July 27. The Rev. Dr Wright, Secretary to the British and ‘Foreign Bible Society, who has been missing tor some time, has been found. Brisbane, July 27.
