GERALDINE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The usual monthly meeting of the members of this Committee was held in the Schoolroom on Wednesday evening last. Present—Messrs W. S. Maslin (Chairman), A. White, G. Taylor, B. H. Pearpoint, J, Cunningham and J. Riordan. ■■■ MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
HEAD MASTER'S EEPORT.
The Head Master's report was read. It showed the average attendance for the past quarter to have been 186/and for the past week ending July Bth, 148. The falling off in rattendance was attributed to unfavorable weather. The school had been opened 87 times during the past quarter. ABSENTEES..,. ;:', A list of the names of .those children who had attended. less than half the number of days the school had been open was laid upon the table.— It wasideoided to serve notices upon the parents of such children. HOLIDAYS. The Head Master interviewed the Committee with regard to the number of holidays the Committee hadtfecided at last meeting to grant. out that it would be to the interest of the school to give longer holidays at Christmas and shorter ones at midwinter and Easter.
The resolution passed': at the previous meeting was rescinded arid the following substituted :—"That the holidays be as follows: One week at Easter, one week at mid-winter, and Ave weeks at Christmas." , J It was, however, decided' that as a fortnight's holiday had been given at mid-winter those given next Christmas ihould only be for a month. VISITORS. The Visiting Committee reported having visited the School during the past month and finding everything working satisfactorily. Messrs Pearpoint and Cunningham were appointed as visitors for the ensuing month. EEPAIRS. As several repairs to the shingle portion of the roof were urgently needed it was decided to write to the Board of Education on the matter. .accounts, "•* Accounts amounting to £G lis 9ir were passed for payment, but it was decided not to draw cheques for the same till receipt of amount "for incidentals.
