D.C. CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Board was held on Wednesday. Present—Messrs J. Jaekson (Chairman), W. Balfour, J. Talbot,, E. A. Barker, and Dr Lovegrove. Mr E. G. Kerr wrote eiguifying his Willingness to act as the Board's Commissioner re the dispute with the Waimate Connty Couacil. Messrs Kernoban, McCahon and Co. wrote offering to lease the old hospital grounds at £8 per annum. —Accepted. Mr March and Mr J. H. Baker, Ooramisaioner of Crown Lands, wrote r» Rifle Kaoge and cottages at Peeress Town.-—lt Was resolVed to give notice to the occupants of three of the cottages at Peeress Town and to fix rents for the others, the Board formally notifying the Chief Surveyor of its acceptance of the cottages. Messrs Meaßon and Marchant reported the completion of the new buildiDgs at the hospital, and that the total amouDt of the oontract, extra*, etc., was £3553 Is 9d. The Secretary to tbo Waimate Hospital Board (Mr D. Jackson) wrote acknowlodg. ing piymebt of a subsidy for £195, and stating that estimate of receipts and expenditure had already been Bfnt.—Mr Lough was appointed to report upon the books of the Waimate Hospital.

Dr Lovegrove drew attention to the state of the morgue and mortuary room, where poii mortetnt wtro performed, and necessary improvements were authorised. Thn Chairman said the caretaker of the Immigration Barracks, Mr Siblston, had complained very buterly and ofteu of the deiapidated state of the buildings, which were damp, cold, and uncomfortable. —The matter w*s referred to Mr Jowsey to report.' Accounts were passed for payment amounting to £303 14s 9d. Cases of chritable aid were dealt with and the Board adjourned.
