ASHBURTON MARKETS,

Mr E. G. Stavuly (for New Zeatani. Loan andi Mercantile Agency Company, Limited J reports on Ashburton sale; 12th inst. : —Moderate entries of stock, including some 4000 sheep. The weather exceptionally fine, and attendance good ; considerate interest taken in the sheep 1 sale, and prices firmly maintained. Fat crossbreds realised 8s 6d and lls Bd, fat merino ewes 5s 3d, 2-tooth mixed croishreds 6s Id and Js, do wethers 7s 9d, aged merino ewes 2s 6d, and wethers 2s lOd, mixed cressbred ewes 6s Id, Strong demand for crossbred lambs, very medium sorts making 5s 3d to 6s Id.

AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Mrlbournk, July 12. The Melbourne Manager ot the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Limited, of New Zealand reports on .the. local .grain market as follows shipping wheat is steady, but not in active demand, at 3s 10.1 to 3s lid ; malting barley, rather more enquiry at reduced prices, via’., 4s 9d to 5< 6d ; New Zealand feeding oats, more demand at slight improvement,2s 101 to 2s lid; milling sorts, fair demand, 2s lOd to 3s ; New Zealand oats under bond, unchanged, 2a to 2a 2d. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, July 11. Adelaide wheat, off coast cargoes, is realising 83s 3d ; New Zea'and wheat, ex store, is quoted at 83s to 86s, Adelaide, flour is 24s 6d. ; Australian tal aw—Average quality beef 22s fid ; mutton, 245. At to-day’s wool sale prices were firmly maintained. The catalogue comprised 8500 bales.
