Mr Bolitbo, a Unionist, was elected without opposition for St, Ires’ division (Cornwall), replacing Sir Jbhn St, Aubyn, recently raised to Jthe Peerage. A vacancy bee occurred in the representation of Glasgo# (Bridgeton diviowing to tbe' reiighatioo of Mr Russell, a Home Ruler. Mr Trevelyan, a Gladstonian, is a candidate f.ir the seat.
The election for the seat in Coventry, meant by the election of Mr William Henry, Eaton, Conservative, to the Peerage, took place yesterday, and resulted in the return of Mr Ballantine, a supporter of Mr Gladstone, by a tnajoritjr of 16 oVer Colonel H. F, Eaton, Conservative. A grand review of 58,000 troops took place yesterday, at Aldershot before the Queen, Her Majesty expressed herself highly gratified with its 1 complete success, and, in reply to an address from the army presented on the occasion, said she prayed that God would grant peace daring the remainder of her reign. » Later. The Queen reviews 83,000 volunteers at Aldershot, along with regulars and yeomanry. The American Government will ask Congress for a rote to enable the United States to be represented at the Melbourne Exhibition.

Earl Percy, heir to (he Duke of Northumberland, and member for the northern ; division of Northumberland from 1868 to 1885, has been raised to the Peerage.
The Observer states that in deference to the strongly expressed wishes of the Saltan, Sir H. Drummond Wolff will remain a day or two in expectation of the ratification of the Egyptian Convention.

Accounts of the hop crop, are rather unpromising, bnt the showery weather now prevailing is expected to have a good effect.
