AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. TIJIARD.

Messrs Gmcie, Maclean and Adam report for the past fortnight hs follows: — Horses—Our sales at the Timaru Horse Bazaar on the 11th inat, were more satisfactory than those of several weeks past, and prices obtained for good young draughts were an improvement on former rates. At auction on Saturday business was rather quiet, but we placed several good draughts privately, and quote medium to good at from £ls 10a to £26, inferior £6 to £lO. Hacks and light harness horses are very slow of sale. Cattle—At Pieasmt Point on the 6th inst., there was a large entry, composed principally of medium B'ores for wh : ch the demand was only limited. We sold 32 head at—for calves 10s, yearlings 19s to 22s ; weM forward steers at £4l2s 6d. At Washdyke yards on Thursday only a few head were yarded owing to the weather being wet and stormy. We aold privately 15 h 'nd w ell-conditioned storea and 21 head fa' steers and heifers at equal to IS; per lOi'lbs for beef, vbneep —At Pleasant Point on the 6th there was a fair entry and most of the lets changed bauds. We sold 77 ewes at 7s 6d, 36 wethers at 9s, 110 ewes at 4m 3d, 200 ewes at ss. At Washdyke on Thursday there was a much larger supply than usual. The demand was brisk and we cleared our entry as under. There was also a good amount of business done in store sheep. Our sales were;—l7s fat ewes at 6s lid, 60 at Bs, 21 at 7», 75 at 6s 6d, 129 lambs at 4s 9d, and privately 205 f it We ale® sold since our last report 5500 boihra, 400 ■ freeaers, and 1300 fit 2-toolhs.

Sheepskins—At our regular sale on Wednesday we catalogued over 2000 skins. There were the usual representatives of the trade present, but owing to the wet weather prices wore not quite so good this wt ek. Best butchers 1 skins realised up to 3s 9d, freezers 4s Id, and full-woolled country skins up to 6s 6d. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, June 18. New Zealand wheat is quoted at 3s to 8s 9d ; New Zealand oats, Is 9d to 2s 3d. The market for oats is glutted. Maize is selling at 3s 3d ; potatoes, 50s, Adelaide, June 18. Wheat is unchanged at 4s 2d to 4s 3d. Flour—Town brands, £9 15s to £10; country brands, £8 10s to £8 15s. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, June 16. Australian bides are in limited demand only. Prices are now an £d lower. June 17. The total quantity of wheel afloat for the Uninted Kingdom is 1,740,000 quarters, and for the Continent .748,000 quarters. Australian tallow remains at last quotations—beef, average quality, 22s 6d ; motion, 245.

New Zealand prime frozen mutton has declined to from 3|d to 4d per lb. ; Jane 18. Brilliant weather is being experienced for the wheat market. The collapse of a corner has, however, caused a cessation in the trade, and the Continental demand is still disorganised, bat, owing to the market clique, prices are well maintained/ In California high rates are held. There are large arrivals from the Australian colonies, and several cargoes on passage are expected. United Kingdom cargoes are nnusually small. Australian, oh the spot (new), is realising 36s ; old, 375 : ; cargoes to London direct, 34a 6d. Two off-coast cargoes have been sold at,3ss 6d, . At th« wool sales to-day merinos and fine crossbreds have recovered from the previous decline. Inferior crossbreds are, however, still a half-penny below previous rates. In manufacturing districts trade has improved and foreign buyers are extremely active. 123,000 bales were catalogued 7700 being withdrawn for the manufacturing districts,
