The Melbourne Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Limited, of New Zealand reports on the local grain market as follows : Wheat, 3s lid to 4s, depressed ; barley, 4s 9d to 5s 6d, quieter, but steady. Oats—Feed sorts, 2s 9d to 2e lid, prices barely maintained; milling sorts, 2s lid to 3s, rather weaker; under boud, 2s to 2s 2d, weak.

ENGLISH MARKETS.

The wheat market shows a declining tendency, owing to the fins weather recently experienced, which materially improved the prospects of the English harvest, At the wool sales to-day 87,000 bales were offered. The market is steady, bat the demand is not active,

Wool—The ealbs progress firmly. For superior greasy merino the market is unchanged, while medium and inferior greasy have declined id per lb since close of last sales, Qombing washed has also declined £d per lb, The following descriptions have declined £d to Id p er lb ;—Merino clothing, washed and scoured, fine washed and fine scoured crossbred, also coarse crossbred. For fine greasy crossbred the market is easier. Market unchanged for merino lambs, except faulty, for which description prices are easier; washed crossbred lambs' »00l has declined Id per lb. Up to date 28,000 bales haye beep sold.
