Important news from Kimberley goldfields, Westfrn Australia, was recently conveyed, according to the Perth Enquirer, in the follow, ing telegram received by the Oolonial Secretary from the Government Resident at Wyndham;—“ I have much pleasure in in* forming you for His Excellency’s information that the complexion of affairs has altered considerably for the better. Good patches of alluvial gold have been found, and are being found, upon the Panton Hiver. I have been informed that almost all the diggers arriving in town have large parcels of gold averaging from 50 to SOOozs. Good reefe alsohave been discovered, and the specimens sent in are magnificent, especially those from the reefs on the Fanton, and another reef at Monnt Dockrdl. The diggers are satisfied with the prospects, and are returning to the fields. Packers are coming in daily, and loading up for the fields. It is reported that a tin lode has been discovered within 80 miles of Wyndham. I believe that to bo oorreol.” The same paper adds that a practical miner, writing to a resident in Perth, under date Derby, April Bth, siiys i—" The news from the fields is very encouraging. All the reefs are looking splendid, and none better than the Lady Broome. £6OO has been refused for one-sixteenth share in it. The reef is solid, sft thick, and shows gold right through,” Perth, Jane 7. The Government received a telegram from the warden at Kimberley goldfield, dated April 11, stating that a 30oznugget had been handed to him. It was found at the old workings on the Fanton. The disooverer found gold at the same place. It has rained daily for a fortnight. The Government Resident at Derby wired On the Slat May stating that reports from Mounts Barrett and Dookrell were most encouraging. He thinks a permanent field is established.
