AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. GERALDINE.

Messrs J. Mundell and 00, report sales for the week ending Saturday, 4th June, 1887, as follows :

At the monthly sale of stock held in the Geraldine Yards there was a large attendance of buyers and an average entry of stock, which met with a good market, every line being sold at quotations which certainly show a decided improvement in values compared with prices lately ruling. The totals yarded were 1755 sheep, 22 pigs, 118 head of cattle. The following were the prices realised ;

Sheep Four-tooth crossbreds, fat, 8s 6d ; 2-tooth do do, ss, 6s 9d, to 7a 6d ; crossbred lambs, weedy, 3s lid. Pigs—Bacon sorts, £1 9s to £2 ; stores sold readily at 6s, 6s 6d to 7a. Cattle—Fat cows and heifers, £5 to £5 ss; forward store steers, £4 10s to £5 10i; two-year-old steers and heifers, £2 2s 6d ; yearlings, £l2s 6d to £1 8s fid; cows in full profit, £3 2s fid to £3 10s j dry nows, £ll2a fid to £3.

AUSTRALIAN MARKETS,

Melbourne, June 7.

The Melbourne Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company, Limited, of New Zealand reports on the local grain market as follows : Wheat, 4s to 4s Id, moderate enquiry ; barley, 4s 9d to 5s 6d, Oats—Feed sorts, 2s 9d to 2s lid, less demand, occasionally easier; milling sorts, 2s lid to 3a, no material change, if anything weaker; under bond, 2s to 2s 2d, slow of sale.

ENGLISH MARKETS.

London, June 5.

The total quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,630,000 quarters, being 130,000 quarters more than last w-ick. The wheat afloat for the Continent amounts to 621,000 quarters, Adelaide wheat is selling at 37s 6d. New Zealand wheat, from 84s 6d to 37s 6d.

New Zealand mutton is selling at 4d to 4|d in Smitbfield market. Australian beef tallow Average quality, 6d higher, viz., 22s 6d ; mutton, 6d higher, 245. The English wheat crop has been improved by seasonable rains.
