AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT.

TIMARU. Messrs Grade, Maclean and Adam report for the past fortnight as fol'ows Horses £f (he llraaru on the 28th-nit., our- entry consisted of 42 head of Ml classes, and nearly onehalf of these found buyers at auction; afad privately after the sale at up to £2O 10a for best draughts! To-day (4th May) we entered 35 headj but sales of all kinds were difficult tb effect, and 1 only, a few changed hands, best draughts realising ing up to £22, inferior to medium, £8 to £ls. Hacks and light harness horses —Those coming forward under this head are of a very inferior stamp, but good sorts ate saleable at fair values. On the 24th nit. we held a sale at Washdyko Yards, on account of WW. Sibbald, Esq., Lilybank station, of 140 unbroken colts and fillies, brood mares, and waggon teams; the quality of this draft of unbroken horses was rauoh superior to either of the lots previously sold at these yards for the same owner, and realised up to £l4 10s. The brood « mares iVijf'e nearly all aged but of good quality and sold well, 10 draughts fetched up to £2O. Cattle—At Waahdyke on Thursday the yards were well filled with both fat and store the demand for beef was limited, and only a few pens sold. We disposed of 18 head at from £4 5s to £6 17s fid, being equal to 18s per 100 be. The store cattle were MI good of their class and sold at better prices than has obtained lately. Our sales were for various owners, 35 jteers and heife'S at from £2 to £3 15s, 10 yearlings 25s to 325, 18 calves 7s fid to 17s fid, 14 cows (in all slaves) from; £2 ! to £7 10a, and privately we placed during the week 47 held 3 and 4-yeai-old steers.

Sheep Only a small' supply of fat sheep came forward ca Thursday composed eptirely of crossbred uvea. Price* were fully up to/owners’ expectations. We sold 40 at 7a 74 'to 7a 9d, 60at'7« 2d, 129 at 7b, and-l2o'pr!me lambs at 5s 3d ; there was a fair entry cf Stores, but with one or two exceptions the quality was only middlinsr. We sold 105 ewes at 3s 6d, 87 coM ewes .- at 2s 101, and privitely .we have , placed during the week 2370 store crossbred ; ewes, 1 ’306; 2-tooth>- (f .1), 314 2,-tooth's for improving and 6400, boilers. ;

Best butchers' realised up to 4s, and for extra heavy 6s j chin*try skins up to 3s 81. There was a full attendance of buyer* and prices a shade firmer, DUNEDIN.
