The enquiry regarding the Windsor railway accident was resumed to-day, when Mr Cameron, one of the passengers by the first train, deposed that he had. requested the gcaid to go backalong the line to stop the express. This the guard declined to do, staiiug that the signals were sufficient safeguards against accident. May 81.

General Sbaw has reported on the defenaes of this colony at the request of the Government, and expresses the opinion that if the works it progress pre completed and the defences vigorously used, Melbourne will be perfectly safe in the event of an attack.
