New Zealand; the Sisters of the 1 “ Good j Shepherd " desire to express, through me, [ their, sincere gratitude to the inhabitants of this City and the Colony generally for . the kind 00,-operation iff jrded: them since,. they; commenced the great work .to which their' lives are devoted in their temporary . residence,, Manchester Street ( North, Hourly we meet with % pcor Magdalen, ired of a misspent life, seeking a shelter,' and finding no security against the biting tblasts of renewed temptation, turns away with the weight of the worldVaccusation, with the world’s condemnation; and becomes the victim of an unholy impulse, which cannot be recalled 11 without a sigh —< nay, without a tear, Kindly, therefore; bear. in mind—1. A rpost desirable site has been aoqhirtd for the Magdalen hear Christchurch. 2. His Eminence Cardinal Moran laid the foundation-stone at “Mount Mtgdaila" on the 18th February of last year, in the presence of 5000 people, and the first portion of the Asylum is nearly completed, 3. The advantages of the Magdalen will be, extended to all New Zealand and ,else-; where. 4. The waifs and the wanderers who -are rescued from the paths of misery andsin are not asked towhab creed they belong., It is sufficient that they need succour. 5 The inmates of “M°dnt Magdala”and the Gfood ghepherd Nuns placed over them" will remember always, with lively gratitude, the benefactors of the institution. 6 Subscriptions may be paid either in part or in fall, according to the con* vonience of lubseriberr. 7. ff, therefore, it were ever true to »ay “that ho gives twice who gives quickly," it 1 is particularly so on the present oooaifob( in order that soon we may |ee another House of the Good Shepherd added to 1 the 150 lloipos scattered over the globe in which more than 4000 RnniaißUflea, bestow their devoted care on 20,000 Children and young girls, while a judicious channel will he opened for the outlay of the Ifyups entrusted to the , Institution. 8. The Sisters of the Good Shepherd Will be grateful to all those who encourage their friends to subscribe to the funds of the Magdalen Asylum. The faver of an early response will enable me to bring to a speedy conclusion an institution from which circles of good must emanate to exercise a salutary influence oh the future of the Colony.
