The Government, being about to offer road work and facilities for settlement on certain terms to the Wellington unemployed, had a meeting of the latter called, buc only 31 put in an appearance. Time was given them to consider the offer, and at a subsequent meeting only 3 turned up and the scheme had to bo left in abeyance,
