ORARI BRIDGE SCHOOL.

The annual treat and distribution of prises was held at Orari Bridge on Friday last, and resulted in a conspicuous saccess. * Mr Grant (Chairman of the School Committee), assisted by Messrs Helem, McLean, Metcalf, and Wharton (members of the School Committee), were present, and gave valuable assistance. The children, to the number of about 70, mustered in the school grounds about 12 o'clock, and went through a long programme of sports. A large number of capital sports prises were presented to the school by Mr Palmer and Mrs Dunlop. The competition was remarkably keen in almost every case, and the close finished reflected much credit upon the handicappen. About 2 o’clock the children sat down to an excellent tea, Messrs Williams and Son, of Geraldine, catered to the satisfaction erf all concerned. After some more games the children once more mustered for the presentaiton of school prizes, prasented on the basis of the Inspector's Standard examination held on January 17th, 1887. The School Committee had voted £5 for the purpose, and some very handsome prizes were procured. Mrs Warner gave some very nice prizes for sewing, which have not yet been awarded, and Mrs Grant gave a handsome prize for good attendance. The following is the prize liatj— Standard V. -Ist prize, William Grant; 2nd, John Lawlor; 3rd, John Grant. Standard IV.—let prize, John McGillicuddy ; 2nd, Jane Reid ; 3rd, Jane Grant, Standard lll.—lst pr'*e, John McLean ; 2nd, Wm. McDonald ; 3rd, Jessie Grant, Standard 11.— Ist prize, James McDonald ; 2nd, David Logan and John Reid ; 3rd, Chas. Hewson. Standard I,—lst prize, Eva Smith ; 2nd, Elisa McLean ; 3rd, Alex. Reid aid Eugene McGillicuddy. Mra Grant’s prize' for regular attendance—Elizs McLean. -

Mr Steven presented the school priise to the successful pupils. Hearty cheers were then given for the School Committee and the teachers of the school, and the children separated much pleased with the day's amusement.
