The fourth annual meeting under the auspices of this Club took place yesterday on the Educational Reserve, about a mile past Woodbury, kindly lent for the occasion by Mr Allan Macdonald. The weather during the greater part of the day wig all that could be desired, the heat of the sun bung nicely tempered with a pleasant breez*, but about 4.15 a strong sou’-wester sprang up, with every indication of rain, and a good many of those present thought it advisable to wend their way homeward. During the day the attendance was large, there being between four and five hundred people on the ground. The course was in fair order, but very hard, after the long spell of dry weather we have experienced of late. In some places it was rather rough end stony, but upon the whole it was as good as could bo expected in an open paddock. There were two booths upon the ground: a publican’s booth kept by Mr J.H. Dean, of the Wood* bury Hotel, and a refreshment booth, ocou* pied by Mr J, Riordan. Both.sssmed to do an excellent business. Mr G. Hamipond . had the gates, and Mr M. B. Heatley'ths cards. One of Messrs J. Cowie and Co.’s (Dunedin) totalisators was on the ground, and put through a fair amount in £1 tickets, Mr D. Denoon acted a» Judge, sad bis decision in all oases gave satisfaction. Mr A. Macdonald acted as Clerk of the Scales. Mr Lawson was Startar, and invariably sent his fields away in a cluster. Not a complaint of any description was to be board during the day. The Stewards worked yory hard to keep everything running smoothly, and aro to be congratulated upon the success ■ that attended tbeir efforts. • :
