AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT. TXMARU. Messrs Grade, Maclean, and Adanj report for the past fortnight ending Saturday as follows : Horses—At the Timaru Horse Bazaar on 2nd inat., cur entry was a small one, consisting of 28 head of all sorts, of which about two-thirds changed hands at quotations. Draught, medium to good, £ls to £25; inferior, £8 to £l2; hacks are in very little demand from £4 to £6, up to £ls for good sorts. On account of the holidays we held no sale at our Bazaar to-day. The annual horse sale was held at the South Canterbury yards, Washdyke, on Thursday, 31st ulto. There was a good entry and the public mustered up very strong. The trade was well represented by local as well as Dunedin, Christchurch, and Sydney dealers. We disposed of 80 head at prices satisfactory to the owners.

Sheep—At the Point yards on Monday last the entry was the largest for some time, and most of the lots offered changed hands, Our sales were 230 2-tooth crossbred wethers at 5s 6d; 80 iambs at 4s 3d ; 340 crossbred ewes, 2s 6d to 3a; 870 merino ewes at Is Id to la 5d ; rams, 15s to 21s. At Geraldine on Wednesday the yards wore full of all sorts and conditions. Our entry consisted of 1917, of which we sold 1260 at—Lambs, la lOi to 2a 6d ; fat sheep, 6s to 7s ; crossbred ewes. 2a to 2a 6d ; merino ewes, Is 4d. At Winchester Fair there was a very fair entry of stock, but on account of the sale falling on the same day ra the usual Washdyke sale,, buyers were unable to be present, consequently we have very few transactions to report. We feel confident that should the promoters change the day, it will be to their advantage as well as a benefit to the local farmers. We placed a line of 509 prime fat wethers and maiden awes at 8s 6d. The entry of sheep at the Washdyke on Thursday was again exceptionally large, the yard accommodation being severely taxed. Of onr entry of 2598, we sold every line with the exception of 200 lambs, as follows :—Fat sheep, 111 at 5s lid ; 75 at 6s ; 167 at 7s ; 2-tocth crossbred wethers, 660 at from 3b to 4s Bd, up to 5s 3d for 175; crossbred ewes, 86 at 5a 6d ; 288 at 5s ; 170 at 4s 8d and 4s 9d ; 75 at 3s 9d ; 70 at 2s 6d ; 101 at 2s Id ; 543 at 2s; lambs up to 4s. Cattle—At Pleasant Point the yards were full of cattle, principally stores, very few fat offering. We sold bullocks at from £4 12s 6d to £5 17e 6d j stores, £2 17s 6d to £4 ; yearlings, 37s to 42s ; cows, to £5 IGs. At Geraldine and Winchester Fair we have no transactions in cattle to report. The Washdyke yards on Thursday were well filled with stores, but few cattle being penned. Our sales were as follow ; —Pat, 7 at £5 2s 6d ; 8 at £5 ; cows, £3 ICj to £5 10s ; stores, £2 to £4 2s 6d; yearlings, 37s 6d to £2 6s.

Pigs—Yery few offering. Wo quote sales at Washdyke ;—4 at 22s ;3 at 10a ; sat 7s; weaners.up to 4s. Sheepskins—-At the usual sale .on Wednesday last we catalogued close on SOOO, all of which found a ready sale. The trade was well represented, but we have to report a slight drop in prices as compared with last sales. Butchers’ crossbreds sold at 3s to 3s 3d ; merino up to, 4s 4d, for a line of heavy well wolled skins; country skins, Is to Is 9d ; pelts, 2d to 6d ; boilers, lOd to 2s 3d. .We also sold privately 1500 at above prices. Clearing Hale—On Tuesday, in conjunction with Messrs Mundell and Co., of Geraldine, we held a very successful clearing sale at Messrs Bruce and Holwell’s farm, Kakahu. The attendance was exceptionally good. Competition was brisk, and p.'cea obtained highly satisfactory. Full-mouth crossbred lines sold at 2s 7d to 4a; 2 and 4-tooth, 4s lOd to 5s Id ; 2-tooth wethers, 6s Id ; draught horses, £l3 10s to £2O 10a ; drays, £8 5s to £ls 10s.
