AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT.

gbbaldinb. Messrs J. Mundell and Co. report sales for the week ending Saturday, 9th April, 1887 : At the Geraldine Yards on Wednesday, 5491 sheep, 132 head of cattle, and 43 pigs were yarded for the day’s sale. The bulk of the entries were sold at the following prices Sheep-Fat crossbreds, 6s Id to 6s 9d ; crossbred store sheep, 2-tooth, 2s 9d to 5s 3d j 4-tooth crossbreds, 5s 3d to 6s Id; lambs (the quality of which were very inferior) sold at from Is 3d to 3s 6d ; young crossbred ewes for breeding purposes, sold at from 4s 3d to 5s 7d ; crossbred ewes (boilers), Is 3d to 2s 6d ; merino ewes (boiler*), lid to Is fid ; merino wethers at Is sd. We also deposed of * number of E.L, and B.L. rams at guineas to guineas. Rams for boiling purposes 4s to ss. At Winchester on Thursday we sold a small pen of lambs at 2s 3d,

Cattle—At Geraldine yards we sold 3-year-old steers forward stores at £4 ; yearlings, £1 to £1 4s ; cows (springing) £3 10s to £4, the demand for cattle being somewhat limited. At Winchester yards Thursday, we sold 3-year-old steers at £4 10s ; 2-year olds, £2los ; yearlings, £1 4s ; cows (springing and in full profit) £3 2s 6d to £4 ss; dry cows, £3 Pigs—At the Geraldine Yards, we sold bacon pigs at 21s ; strong stores, 6s to 16s 6d. We have little change in values to record, but the supply of pigs is limited in our district, consequently prices must improve.
