A BANK TELLER AT FAULT.
It is not often tint anybody receives too much money, in mistake, from a bank teller, still less often that a teller makes such a mistake twice in a day. Such a case has, however, been brought under the notice of the Napier Telegraph. A well-known contractor went to his bank and asked for five five pound notes, besides other cash. He got bis bundle of notes and coin, left the place, and went and paid some of his men off, One of them opening bis roM, discovered that one of the notes instead of being a five was a twenty. He mentioned it, and two other men discovered a similar mistake bad been made in their case. The attention of the employer was drawn to the fact, and he then discovered that instead of receiving five fives, be bad received five twenties—£loo, instead of £25. He immediately retraced bia steps, and informed the cashier of bis miatake. The gentleman"became so coifuied on hearing of his blunder that he scarcely knew what he was about, and instead of giving the contractor five fives, having *ho “twenty’’ still in bis mind, handed over twenty fives making as bad a blunder as before. The contractor showed the money back again, and told the cashier be had put his foot in it again. He eventually got the money he required, and left the bank man so raided up that he did not know whether lie was standing on bia bead or heals, This is a fact,
